Born in Bayonne, France, in December of 2004, Lauren Tewhata (Ngā Puhi) spent most of her young life in the South of France.

The call of home brought her whānau back to Taranaki in 2015, where she jumped into New Plymouth Girls High School and then went on to attend Queen Margaret College in Wellington.

Fluent in two languages, Lauren plays the wing/guard position with a scorers mentality. She showcases a finesse of finishes, both left and right at the rim, with a deadly long-range shot.

Basketball NZ has recently announced the Junior Tall Fern squad for their 2022 International program, selecting Lauren Tewhata in recognition of her work and talent at this level.
